LINDEY is one VERY special girl! 
Talk about a survivor and a fighter!

Lindey appears to have been thrown off an overpass in downtown Kansas City MO.  A horse show was being held at Hale Arena on the street below, and witnesses saw Lindey suddenly “come flying over” and land in a snow bank.  She didn’t jump or climb, and then fall over.  She appeared to be propelled from behind.   

No one went to Lindey’s aid.  One witness called to have someone “pick her up”.  Lindey sat there in shock and agony, and managed to drag herself as far as an icy wet spot on the conrete where she could move no further.

Luckily, within five minutes two horse show attendees pulled up and were horrified.  Both love animals and one has bred German Shepherds.  Both wondered why they were running late that day.  Neither hesitated for a second.  These two angels literally rode to Lindey’s rescue:  they raced to where she lay, put her in their car and sped to the vet. 

Meantime, back at Hale Arena others were on the lookout for someone who might come looking for her - but no one ever came.

Lindey was at the vet within 40 minutes.  She was in shock, had blood in her stomach and compression in her lung.  X-rays were taken.  Exams were done.  Miraculously no bones were broken.  But the exam showed she had major damage to both front legs and her mouth.

The vet saw no injuries to indicate she was hit by a car.  He believes her injuries indicate she did a three-point landing:  she hit the snow bank with both front feet and her jaw taking the full force of the impact.  Just like us humans, she put her paws out to try and break the impact.  The tendons and ligaments in both front feet are completely ripped and torn.  Her left front paw dangled uselessly.  Her right front paw was usable but in bad shape.  She has at least 4 badly fractured teeth that will have to be removed.

Amazingly, her internal injuries seem to be stabilizing and she is eating on her own.  She needs a week or two to make sure there is no residual lung, stomach or other internal damage. 

With luck and your prayers, her internal injuries will be temporary.  But her teeth must come out and the vet believes both front legs need a surgery called pan carpal arthrodesis - a procedure in which the ankle (carpal) is fused into a fixed position permanently.  This is a complicated and difficult surgery, with a lengthy recuperation that requires frequent rechecks and vet visits.  Each foot could easily cost $4,000 to fix. 

Meanwhile both her front legs are in splints so she can at least hobble around a little.  We will know more after Lindey has the chance to stabilize completely for a few more days.  Surgery should occur within 2-3 weeks, once we’re sure her internal health is not compromised.  During that time we will take her to an orthopedic specialist who will do a detailed treatment plan and a thorough orthopedic assessment.

• teeth removal, shots, spay                 $  900

Jill/tumblr user Birdbitch called me a little while ago with some really bad news.

Her laptop’s motherboard just failed on her and her finals week starts tomorrow. Not only that, but the work for one of her finals (a paper that she has to turn in before the week is out) is on her computer. She doesn’t have a warranty on her computer so there’s no getting HP to fix it without it costing a bunch.

Jill asked me to let you guys know what was up because we have many followers in common and they’d probably notice that she’s not online as much/at all, but that’s not all.

She also asked me to put out a call for donations for her because she and her family don’t have the money to get her computer fixed. And as an English major, she really needs her computer in order to do her coursework.

I saw a little over a year ago how amazing you are, and because of that, I know I can come to you with this. I have a very dear friend of mine, Samantha, who does all she can do to help her family and make others happy. Well, now she needs help. She is a full time student and lives in a full house that has had a new addition to it. Because of this, she’s done her best to give what little money she has to her mother and the house to keep it afloat and everyone to live happy. As of late, she made a mistake in adding numbers, and over drew her account, leaving her not only with the over draft of $20, but the over draft fee of over $50. She will owe almost $80 dollars, and that’s money she can’t replace and keep up the house at the same time.
So I ask you tumblr, please help her. She’s willing to do commissions, she just feels as though she needs more examples before she can put this out there, but being friends for so long, I know it’s hurting her the longer this goes on. Anything will do, but I will not put her information out there. Please go, talk to her, contact her. She deserves so much more than she’s ever been given, and she shouldn’t be punished like this for such a small twist in judgement.

A Sad Story.

I lost my job Thursday night.

It was sudden, unexpected, humilating, and I’m not entirely sure it was legal. I was given no warning, no concrete reasoning except that I ‘wasn’t a good fit’ - this of course, after a year of being overworked, stressed, and late hours spent there. Conveniently, I was fired a week before my benefits (paid vacation, health insurance, etc.) kicked in.

I’m telling myself that this is a good thing. I was always stressed, had zero time for myself, and honestly, I didn’t want to sit behind a desk for the rest of my life. I’m thinking I’ll go back to school, something I never thought I’d do.

Unfortunately, the biggest downside to this is, I don’t have any form of income. I have a little savings with which to pay my bills for the moment- but it’s not going to last. I’m looking for another crap job until I can get myself enrolled, but we all know times are tough. 

So finally, I’m getting to the point. Starting now- I’m opening commissions of all sorts. That means;
