They were cute, Sherlock wasn’t a robot and he could admit as much. However the fact remained that the little creatures did take up tremendous amounts of both John’s time and -more importantly- his attention. Adding to this was the fact that Sherlock was quite sure that the apparent ‘favorite’ of the lot, some sort of dark tabby, was almost smug in its position in John’s arms as he passed Sherlock around the flat. As if it were rubbing it in that John certainly wasn’t about to put it down in favor of Sherlock’s attention any time soon.
