surprisingly didn’t see much Clint! i think he was the only one who didn’t get a speaking preview in the trailer, which is surprising considering what a mouth he’s got on him lmao

i wonder if i should wear that long wig i just got..? i kind of want to but idk if i should, my sister (whos taking me) might make fun of me because she thinks wigs are for old ladies.

edit: do you guys think it would be ok to wear a normal looking wig out in a public setting/not a con setting? I don’t know if thats seen as something tacky, i think my sister thinks its tacky but she’s hella superficial so idk if thats a universal thought or what.

° Related to the above, Watson has no longer been invalided home from anywhere. Again, this is not only important to the character, but sends a message that war wounds are only sexy on men and that women are too weak to go through that.

° She’s a disgraced surgeon who’s lost her license. Oh. Not only has she had the military career erased, but she’s incompetent as well? Fabulous. There are so many other reasons for her to be able to be Jonny Lee Miller’s Boswell without also taking away the one thing that does make her successful. This is completely unnecessary, and once again sends the message that women can’t cope in fields that are predominately male-dominated.

°Joan Three Continents Watson will never fly. As much as I’d love to see this aspect remain intact, I strongly doubt it will. And I think this will be the biggest disappointment of the lot.


Poor reasons to be annoyed with CBS right now:

° Watson is a woman, so all the gay will be erased. What gay, exactly? The only Holmes I can ever recall as being canonically stated as gay was from the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, and Watson was horrified to learn this. All other adaptations where homosexuality is mentioned have been rife with ‘lol they said “gay”’ jokes.

° Watson being a woman will kill the ship. Yes, because heterosexuals are so disgusting. Oh wait…

° I prefer to look at manmeat in my porn. … I don’t want to live on this planet anymore. I can’t even begin to articulate how ridiculous this is.



TL;DR: Yes. it is fine and dandy to be upset for CBS, but a lot of people are being upset for the WAY wrong reasons.

i feel like that last bit was directed at someone who saw my post and i’d just like to defend myself a bit.

I never said anything in my post as a fact. I was saying my own feelings, with thigns like ‘it SEEMS like ___ to me’ and such.

Will watson being a woman kill the ship? No. Of course it wont. But it will most likely make the ship appealing to people who don’t like gay spins on things. Which is whatever. People are going to like whatever they like.

Did anyone outright say ‘Watson being a woman will erase all the gay that is canon!”? not that i have seen. True I’ve said a lot of about Homosexual undertones, but that doesn’t mean I straight up said ‘maaan making it a woman is going to make the characters not queer and thats wrong because heterosexuals are GROSS!’. Nope.

I was worried about the producers making Watson a woman because I felt that they wanted to avoid having people ship the two in a homosexual fashion, while making one character a woman would be more palatable. It’s true Sherlock isn’t gay. Watson isn’t either. Not every relationship between two people of the same sex makes both parties strictly homosexuals. 

the people who are sad to learn about Watson being a woman because of romantic aspects they enjoy shipping being ‘corrected’ feel it for their own reasons, its kind of upsetting to hear that your own feelings about something are wrong. No ones saying anything as a fact yet because no one know anything about how they’re going to handle the show yet.

((tbh, my own opinion on how this post ended kind of sounded like ‘what about teh heteros???’ but thats just me))
